Exploring Body Image in Pregnancy

In this moving and insightful workshop women will be invited to explore how body image impacts their personal experience of pregnancy and how yoga and mindfulness can be used to support body-awareness and acceptance of change.
Pregnancy and motherhood can be transformative in women's lives. While the experience of being pregnant can feel wondrous and beautiful, for many women it is also a time of emotional turmoil resulting in both positive and negative emotional states. The experience of being pregnant can be both physically and emotionally demanding and the pressures a modern pregnant woman faces include changes in body image which can be influenced by contradictory and confusing messages from the media
The first in a series of workshops exploring the psychological, emotional and physical changes in pregnancy, this yoga and mindfulness workshop will invite women to explore their relationship with their changing body. Through movement, mindfulness and enquiry, women will be guided into working with their bodies and mind to bring insight to conscious and unconscious behaviours, thoughts and patterns related to body image that can impact physical and psychological wellbeing during pregnancy. The workshop will include embodied movement, mindfulness, written enquiry and discussion.
