We offer regular beginners yoga courses at our London centres in Notting Hill and Islington. These courses are suitable for complete beginners and for anyone looking to brush up on their yoga basics. Monday Beginners Yoga Course - 4 Weeks

This 4 week course introduces the classic body of yoga postures (asanas) and basic sequences, including sun salutations. A focus on healthy alignment principles and an introduction to breathing practices (pranayama) will help build strength, flexibility and create a foundation for your yoga practice.

In this course, students will receive personal attention from an experienced teacher week to week providing an ideal environment for learning.  Building upon the core poses and working at a pace that ensures learning, students will build strength and knowledge, as well as cultivate greater mental clarity and calm. The Beginner Course is way to begin your practice and discover yoga in a safe and fun space.  Perfect for beginners, people who like to learn sequentially or anyone looking to revisit the fundamentals of yoga.

On completion of the course you will have the experience, confidence and knowledge to attend any of The Life Centre’s Yoga Level 1 or Level 1-2 classes.

This 5 week Beginners Course is for everyone - older and younger, men and women, athletes and desk-bound bodies.  You’ll learn essential poses and simple breathing techniques each week to build flexibility and strength, reduce stress, sleep better, boost your metabolism, and increase sustainable energy.

Lisa emphasises deep understanding of how your body works (bio-mechanics), and outlines each practice’s beneficial effects on your life. The course will help you to feel confident in level 1 classes. Lisa offers some optional, simple ‘yoga homework’ to help you de-stress in between sessions.

You’ll learn in an exploratory, playful, and intelligent way.
•    A clear course format helps you to know where you’re going week upon week-so you can chart your learning through the course
•    Each session focuses on a different ‘class’ or type of pose and specific area of the body so you understand what you’re doing and why
•    Lisa explains basic yoga ideas and philosophy in a practical, down-to-earth way

An Introduction to Mysore Ashtanga Self Practice Course

This new course is designed for anyone curious about Mysore Self Practice Ashtanga classes and wanting to give them a try in a small and supportive group environment.

The course will teach you the foundations of the Ashtanga practice and enable you to memorise the opening sections of the sequence. The first 4 days of the course will combine verbal explanation, discussion, and alignment technique. You will spend the first half of each session in the upper studio and then move downstairs to the main Mysore room. On Friday you have the option to join the Led Ashtanga class.

Mysore programmes can appear intimidating as other people seem to know the sequence and perhaps be doing complex asana. Learning the sequence of postures is actually straightforward, especially if you are willing to repeat sections until you have set it in down in your mind and your body. 

By the end of the course you will have the experience and confidence to continue your practice in our regular Mysore classes.

Continuing your Mysore Practice:

This 5 day course is just an introduction to Mysore style self practice - at the end of the course you will have the experience and confidence to continue your journey in the regular Mysore classes. The following weeks’ practice is included in the cost of the course.
