Monday Beginners Yoga Course - 5 Weeks

This 5 week course introduces the classic body of yoga postures (asanas) and basic sequences, including sun salutations. A focus on healthy alignment principles and an introduction to breathing practices (pranayama) will help build strength, flexibility and create a foundation for your yoga practice.

In this course, students will receive personal attention from an experienced teacher week to week providing an ideal environment for learning.  Building upon the core poses and working at a pace that ensures learning, students will build strength and knowledge, as well as cultivate greater mental clarity and calm. The Beginner Course is way to begin your practice and discover yoga in a safe and fun space.  Perfect for beginners, people who like to learn sequentially or anyone looking to revisit the fundamentals of yoga.

On completion of the course you will have the experience, confidence and knowledge to attend any of The Life Centre’s Yoga Level 1 or Level 1-2 classes.

Weeks 1 and 2 of the course will be taught by Mark Hill and week 3-5 will be taught by Leone Roberts.

Wednesday 4 Week Beginners Ashtanga Yoga Course

This 4-week Ashtanga Course will introduce complete beginners to this inspiring and dynamic practice. Students will learn a brief history of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, the breathing method of the practice, beginning and standing postures of the Primary Series, and a closing sequence. 

The course will be split into 4 parts:

Week 1: 
A brief history of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga
Introduction to Breath, Bandhas, Gaze
Sun Salutations

Week 2: 
Standing Sequence

Week 3:
Mysore Self-Practise: a discussion and practise (taught by Agi Gazda)

Week 4:
Integration 
"Practice, Practice, All is Coming"

By the end of the course, each student will have the confidence to move through a set sequence of movements within the Ashtanga framework on their own and will have the knowledge, confidence and experience to attend any of The Life Centre’s All Level Ashtanga Classes or Mysore Self-Practice.

Thursday Introduction to Jivamukti 4 Week Beginners Course

This 4 week introduction course to Jivamukti Yoga classes will provide the student with the underlying basics of how a Vinyasa practice works. Vinyasa is a method of practicing asana (posture), where the asanas are presented in a sequence, flowing one to the next, supported by the breath and paying attention to the conscious placement of the body. 

In this course, students will receive personal attention from an experienced teacher week to week providing an ideal environment for learning. Building upon the core aspects of a Jivamukti practice, Vinyasa poses will be introduced at a pace that ensures learning, students will build strength and knowledge, as well as cultivate a strong foundation.
There will be time to ask questions. 

Each week will cover a different set of asanas: week 1: Standing postures, week 2: forward bends, week 3: backbends and week 4: inversions. Students will feel ready to attend a Vinyasa class or an Open Level Jivamukti yoga class. 

This course is open to beginners as well as more experienced practitioners who wish to revisit certain postures/sequences in order to deepen their practice.
