Yoga Teacher Training Taster Event - London

With Catriona Brokenshire, Sarah Litton
1 Jun 2019

Yogacampus Islington
1 Britannia Row, London N1 8QH

Have you ever thought about becoming a yoga teacher, but are not sure what the training involves? If so, join us to ask questions and get a taste of our Yoga Teacher Training Diploma. The taster day is absolutely free and will include three enlightening mini sessions to give you a glimpse of what could await you on your journey to becoming a fully qualified yoga teacher with Yogacampus.

The Yogacampus Teacher Training Diploma, established in 2003 and offered in London, York and Manchester, is an 16 month (200 contact hours) course run by leading teachers from a variety of yoga traditions, all highly respected in their field of expertise. It is one of the UK’s top teacher training courses, known for its non-dogmatic and authentic approach. We recognise that yoga, from its earliest roots in ancient India, has continually grown and developed – and continues to grow and develop as we bring its teachings into the 21st century. Our course is registered with Yoga Alliance (RYS 200 hours), the Independent Yoga Network and the Register of Exercise Professionals and graduates can teach both in the UK and internationally. You can find out more about the Diploma course by clicking here and can download the course prospectus below.

Taster Day Programme

14.00 – 14.30: Pranayama with Catriona Brokenshire: A brief overview of the definition and benefits of pranayama (breathing techniques), followed by a practical session comprising two classic techniques to improve lung capacity, and balance the physiological and energy bodies.

14.30 – 15.00: Experiential anatomy with Sarah Litton: A glimpse of how we can translate theoretical knowledge of anatomy into a physical experience, and how we can use this experiential knowledge to make yoga practice safer and more effective. We will look at one symmetrical pose to diagnose asymmetry and one asymmetrical asana to bring symmetry; the effect on the mind of a posture in balance or imbalanced will be observed.

15.00 – 15.30: What happens after graduating? As told by one of our graduates, Loren Jenkins.

15.30 – 16.00: Q&A and Video

THIS IS A FREE EVENT, BUT PLEASE BOOK YOUR PLACE USING THE ON-LINE BOOKING LINK.

Yoga Teacher Training Diploma - York June 2019

8 Jun –

Stables Yoga Centre
10a Nunmill St, York YO23 1NU

The Yogacampus Yoga Teacher Training Diploma is one of the top yoga teacher training courses in the UK, known for its non-dogmatic and authentic approach. We recognise that yoga, from its earliest roots in ancient India, has continually grown and developed – and continues to grow and develop as we bring its teachings into the 21st century. We firmly believe that every path of this great centuries old tradition should be acknowledged, explored and respected. We run this Yoga Teacher training course in London, Manchester , and in York at our training centre at The Stables Yoga Centre.

We believe that a great yoga teacher is a wonderfully unique combination of scientist, artist and spiritual guide, and seek to develop those abilities in each and every one of our students. Rather than focusing on any particular school or style of yoga or relying too heavily on a small number of teachers, the course draws on a range of leading teachers from a variety of yoga traditions.

The course was introduced in 2003 and is registered with Yoga Alliance at the 200-hour teacher training level, allowing graduates the benefit of an internationally recognised accreditation, and with the Independent Yoga Network. Graduates are also entitled to join the Register of Exercise Professionals, an organisation set up to regulate, help safeguard and promote the health and interests of people who are using the services of exercise and fitness instructors, teachers and trainers.

We know that there are many good yoga teacher training courses. So why train with Yogacampus? Because:

  • we have been around since 2003 and have trained over 900 yoga teachers
  • we are the only ‘blended learning’ course to offer you both face-to-face, and online teaching (with access to readings materials, practice quizzes, videos and more long after you graduate)
  • we offer you a range of expert teachers, with eclectic backgrounds, but all with a passion for the yoga tradition
  • we give you an experienced contact teacher to guide you throughout the course
  • we require you to think for yourself and find your unique voice as a teacher!
  • we offer flexible payment plans and monthly installments

Perhaps our best testimonial is the fact that many of our graduates have forged very successful yoga teaching careers, including, in some cases, establishing their own yoga centres.

Over the 16 months of the course we will help you to deepen your knowledge of the science of yoga – anatomy, physiology, teaching techniques, philosophy – as we teach you how to use your artistic creativity in class planning and sequencing. Learn to teach asana, pranayama and meditation in your own individual way, from the heart, with awareness, compassion, sensitivity and clarity. By the end of the course you will be able confidently to convey your own experience of yoga’s transforming power to your students with ease and confidence.

The 11 core weekend modules of the course cover the following areas in manageable portions designed to develop your knowledge and teaching skills progressively and systematically:

  • Asana Principles and Creative Asana Teaching
  • Practical Anatomy and Physiology
  • Class Sequencing
  • Teaching Skills and Techniques
  • Subtle and Energetic Anatomy
  • Pranayama and Meditation
  • The History and Philosophy of Yoga

The core 11 modules will be supported with regular check-ins, quizzes, videos, podcasts, and reading materials as part of our unique Online Learning Platform. Trust us, you will love all the extras!

You can find more information about the Yoga Teacher Training syllabus, course structure and content in the Course Prospectus, downloadable on the right-hand side.

Throughout the course, you also learn how to develop your own practice, and have the support of a contact teacher. The group meets at least 4 times during the course for discussion and teaching practice, and you have ongoing contact with your contact teacher throughout the course to discuss your individual progress and any concerns which you may have, and to assess your teaching as you approach the end of the course. We believe that this is a unique feature of our course – just one more reason why the Yogacampus course is special.

But don’t take our word for it! Have a look at our short video where we celebrate 15 years of Yogacampus Teacher Training with some words from our grads and teaching faculty.

Please note that candidates must be computer literate and have daily access to the internet for electronic submission of written work and assessments.
