Yoga Therapy Diploma Course
Offered in conjunction with the Yoga Biomedical Trust - www.yogatherapy.org
The Yoga Therapy Diploma Course has become well established over the past 15 years, with the Yoga Biomedical Trust playing a leading role in creating a new complementary health profession – that of yoga therapist – with Diploma Course graduates now being eligible to join the NHS Register of Complementary and Alternative Medical Practitioners. The Yoga Biomedical Trust has teamed up with The Life Centre Education Limited to make the course more accessible to yoga teachers who also wish to train as yoga therapists, in particular making the course more modular to allow greater flexibility in when modules can be taken.
The initial part of the training – the Foundation Course can be taken as a stand-alone training by teachers who wish to improve their skills to work therapeutically with students in general classes but who do not wish to go on to become qualified yoga therapists. However the Foundation Course is also a pre-requisite for those who wish to go on to complete Diploma Course modules.
The full Diploma Course is comprised of three separate modules focussing on different aspects of the body, together with a practical project. In order to be awarded the full Yoga Therapy Diploma and gain entry to the NHS Register of Complementary and Alternative Medical Practitioners as a yoga therapist a student must complete all aspects of the course. However each module is a stand-alone training in its own right, incorporating theory and practice with its own assessment procedures, and hence teachers may choose to do individual modules only. The three modules are;
