Open to yoga teachers, trainee teachers and all experienced yoga students. Students on The Life Centre Yoga Teacher Training Programme who attend all four days may count this as one of their approved intensives.
Take this opportunity to learn tools for teaching vinyasa, and enlivening the flow of your classes, by studying with leading prana vinyasa teacher Shiva Rea in a training that will deepen your personal practice as a laboratory for exploring the creative potential of vinyasa.
This intensive will cover:
- the philosophical roots of vinyasa yoga and the embodiment of tantric hatha yoga;
- bandhas and ten different sun salutations;
- energetic alignment;
- Shiva’s wave theory of sequencing the ritual arc of the class;
- how to create the sutra or theme of the class through movement meditations, krama (stages of asanas) and bhava (inner state);
- creative and effective sequencing of four different vinyasa series;
- Shiva’s alchemical movement mixes and use of music;
- living your yoga with an understanding of your personal sadhana and svadharma, or service to the world.
Although not pre-conditions for attendance, Shiva suggests that participants on this intensive be familiar with her Yoga Shakti DVD and the following books (all available from www.yogamatters.com/

Shiva Rea is a leading teacher of vinyasa flow yoga and yoga trance dance worldwide. She began exploring yoga at the age of 14 as a way to understand the name given to her by her father, an artist and surfer. Her studies in the Krishnamacharya yoga lineage (including Ashtanga Vinyasa, Iyengar and Viniyoga), tantra, ayurveda, bhakti, yogic art and somatic movement infuse her approach to living yoga and embodying the flow with love - one breath at a time. She is known for bringing the roots of yoga alive for modern practitioners through the integration of movement meditation, yogic philosophy and art, world music, nature's vitality, spontaneous humour and joy, helping students find their potential in teaching and practice with vitality and grace. She has produced several practice DVDs and music compilations, writes for Yoga Journal, founded Shiva-Shakti yoga infused clothing with the Marika Group, serves as Creative Yoga Advisor of Exhale and lives with her family in Los Angeles where she teaches at Exhale and on UCLA's World Arts and Cultures Program.
Note As well as counting as an approved intensive for The Life Centre Yoga Teacher Training Programme, this course may also be applied towards Shiva Rea's 200 and 500 hour Vinyasa Flow Teacher Training Certification (Yoga Alliance registered).
