If you are looking for a peaceful rather than a party start to the New Year join Anna for 5 days of yoga and meditation in the beautiful Tilton House, in the heart of the South Downs in Sussex.
The programme will include daily, morning meditations and mindful flowing yoga before breakfast, we will then take a more restorative session in the afternoon. There will also be plenty of quiet time to rest, read, restore or explore the beautiful countryside on our doorstep.
Yoga sessions are held in the fireside library looking out onto the South Downs and Firle Beacon. They have a treatment room and a cedar wood sauna. If there is sufficient demand we will see if treatments can be available for those who want them.
Tilton House is on the South Downs Nation Park and is easily reached by train from Victoria Station (just over an hour) to Lewes then 15 minutes by taxi. The Downs are stunning and popular for walking and, as we would be in Bloomsbury Country, places like Charleston Farmhouse and Berwick Church are good places to stroll around.

There will be two practices per day starting with meditation and pranayama followed by a slow flow vinyasa style practice.
Each afternoon we will focus on a more restorative, yin style practice including some more pranayama, meditation and yoga nidra sessions (guided relaxation).
All levels of practitioner are welcomed on this retreat, including complete beginners. We shall build and deepen the practice as we go and lots of variations will be offered depending on your ability. You are encouraged to listen to your own body and take rest whenever you like.
There will be one day off in the week, and we suggest this week be ALCOHOL FREE to allow your body to rest and heal. If you prefer to drink alcohol we ask you not to drink at the dinner table – there are lots of charming bars and restaurants down the beach that you may like to visit before or after dinner.

In your free time you may like to treat yourself to some Ayurvedic treatments in the in-house spa. India has a rich history of a holistic approach to wellness, with ancient Ayurvedic practices designed to provide mental and physical balance. Translating literally as ‘Science of Life’, this five thousand year old system of health care aims to bring harmony within yourself and with nature. The spa treatments are guided by the Ayurvedic ethos of well-being within and without and perfectly complements your yoga practice. There is an extensive menu of healing therapies from the beautiful massage hut close by.
You may also like to indulge in a little shopping. Patnem has a lovely selection of shops, just one long ‘high street’, or take a rickshaw to neighbouring Palolem for a much wider selection of goods. You can also visit some local temples, take a look at a spice farm or spend the day at another beach along the coast. A sunset or sunrise dolphin spotting boat trip is also included in the price of your retreat.
Direct flights to Goa are available through Thomas Cook and take nine hours one way.

In your free time between yoga sessions and mealtimes you have the opportunity to enjoy the grounds and surrounding countryside as there are lots of walking opportunities. There are lovely characterful bathrooms just inviting you to take a long soak, massages are available and there is a lovely, comfy lounge where you can curl up by the open fire with a book and a cup of tea.
There are ten unique and beautifully restored bedrooms, two singles and the rest double/twins or triples. The house has retained all of its original features so all bedrooms are without en-suites. They all have their own style and are spacious with a luxurious feel but also comfortable and very relaxing.
You will be treated this weekend to a healthy feast of lovingly prepared delicious, home cooked vegetarian food, which will nourish your body and your soul. The food is largely vegan and gluten free but there will be eggs and dairy options available.

There is plenty of time between yoga sessions to relax on the beach, immerse yourself in a book, hang out with new friends, indulge in a massage, explore the local shops, walk to a nearby beach or even have a siesta!
We will have 1 afternoon off yoga to allow for a longer excursion or dolphin watching boat trip which is included in the cost of the holiday.
Accommodation is in charming and comfortable beach cabins with ceiling fan and ensuite bathrooms, with sea views to the front or side veranda with their own hammock.
Consider bringing a friend, or If you are coming on your own we can pair you with someone of the same sex to share. For those who prefer their own space a limited number of singles are available.

The food at Bamboo is a highlight of the week.! Light fruit and teas are available before morning yoga and fruit and cookies mid afternoon. Delicious, healthy, freshly cooked vegetarian food is served buffet style for brunch and dinner.
There is plenty choice and variety and they are happy to accommodate specific dietary needs. You definitely won’t be hungry!

On our 8 day yoga in Kerala retreat we will immerse ourselves in a whole range of relaxing activities, including optional morning and evening yoga in the purpose built shaded yoga shala overlooking the sea. Morning walks along Northern Kerala’s swathes of almost deserted, white sandy beaches.
As a group we can enjoy peaceful boat rides watching the abundant wildlife in Kerala’s northern backwaters, dine in the open air on wonderful freshly prepared Keralan and Southern Indian cuisine and swim in the blood warm waters of the Arabian Sea and the resort’s gorgeous pool.
We practice yoga twice a day in the morning and late afternoon in the shaded yoga shala set in among the palm trees overlooking the sea. There is also opportunity for meditation on the tranquil shores of the Arabian Sea watching the setting sun.
The yoga classes will comprise the spectrum between slow flow and deeply restorative yoga gently and yin. You can do as much or as little as you please.
The 10 yoga practices arranged throughout the week will be of varying lengths and content. There is never any pressure for guests to take part in every yoga class and non-participating partners are most welcome on the holidays.
The morning yoga sessions on our Kerala yoga retreat will comprise more flowing yoga practices, with modifications offered to suit the individual levels of students. There will also be pranayama (breathing techniques) and guided meditation and relaxation. The late afternoon/ early evening yoga classes will include a slower asana practice, with some poses held longer for deepening, yin yoga, gentle and restorative sessions, again with pranayama, guided relaxations, yoga nidra and meditations.
Establish a daily practice and immerse in mantra, pranayama, kriya, meditation, contemplation and journaling. Take in two hours of asana each morning followed by yin or restorative at night. Rest by the pool or attend optional study modules throughout the day. This can be an extended 12 day retreat or a 100-hour qualification. FINCA DEL ALAMO
The venue consists of the main house (Finca), which won awards in the 80’s for its striking modernist design. It sits in the semi-desert landscape amid lush gardens, its architecture echoing ancient Mediterranean civilisations. It has long been a stylish, bohemian family home, also an exotic venue for photo shoots. It has now been adapted to cater for yoga groups.
The outlying Cortijo (farm) buildings have been converted in the original local style into charming accommodation, located a couple of hundred yards from the main house. The Cortijo has its own swimming pool and a covered outdoor yoga space.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in the price, delicious, healthy and freshly prepared. Meals are vegetarian by default, but if requested one or two meals with fish or chicken can be arranged during the week.
