Transformative Yoga Retreat in Almeria, Spain

With Jeff Phenix
Cabo de Gata, near Almeria, Spain
25 Aug – 1 Sep 2018

Join senior teacher Jeff Phenix for an amazing and inspiring week of yoga and meditation in stunning Almeria, which is Spain’s sunniest region and one of the least visited.

Its proximity to North Africa means that the area is semi-desert, dry and dramatic, with imposing mountains and dazzling sea. The venue is on the edge of one of Europe’s most remote and beautiful natural parks, the Cabo de Gata, one of the last unspoiled stretches of Spanish coastline, which is an amazing landscape of perfect half-moon bays, hidden coves, bizarre volcanic rock formations, and spectacular flora and fauna.

The venue is in a peaceful, isolated location, but within walking distance of the lovely traditional local village of Nijar, which can be seen across the valley at the foot of the spectacular mountain backdrop.

The venue sits in the semi-desert landscape amid lush gardens, its architecture echoing ancient Mediterranean civilizations. It has two swimming pools, one of which is a striking natural pool, fed by spring water and filtered by reed beds. It consists of the main Finca which holds a number of the bedrooms as well as the outlying Cortijo (farm) buildings have been converted in the original local style into charming accommodation, located a couple of hundred yards from the main house. Yoga will take place in a fully equipped covered outdoor yoga space.

“It is a wonderful venue, the house is very comfortable, homely and with a peaceful happy vibe. Everyone who came commented on it. The pool ( naturally filtered) has the softest water and the food is very good” Liz, yoga teacher

Arrival day is Saturday 25th August 2018 and will begin with a welcome session and short practice late afternoon for those whose flights permit it. Morning sessions will be a dynamic mixture of stillness and movement incorporating pranayama and meditation and will be at 8am for approx. 2.5 – 3 hours. You are then free for the day to relax by the pool, enjoy a massage, explore the countryside, visit a village or take a trip to the local beach until the late afternoon session at 5.00pm (there will be snacks!) for approx. 1.5 – 2 hours which will be a mellow, soothing and nurturing practice, delving into areas such as yin yoga, restoratives, pranayama, chakras and meditation. There will be one afternoon off yoga during the week to allow for an optional longer excursion. Options include a trip to a beautiful local beach, the stunning nearby Cabo de Gata national park, the city of Almeria (30 mins drive from the Finca) which contains the 10th century Alcazabar fortified complex and is the largest Muslim fortress in Spain and its impressive Cathedral, or the spa of Sierra Alhamilla, with its healing hot springs, which was first built by the Phoenicians in 300BC, and later used by the Romans when Spain was part of the Roman Empire. Various beauty treatments are available. (45 minutes drive from the Finca). Departure day is Saturday 1st September 2018.

Getting there
Almeria airport is less than half an hour from the Finca and is served by Easyjet, Monarch and Ryanair.
Taxis are €50 one-way and can carry 4, so if you can travel at the same time as others it can work out at €25 total for round-trip transfers. I will arrange transfers for you, let me know your flights once you have booked and I will put people together as much as possible.

Yoga & Walking on the Spectacular Island of Sicily

With Elisa & Dominic Williams
Taomina Bay, Sicily
22–29 Sep 2018

Sicily, the eternal crossroads of the Mediterranean, continues to seduce visitors with its dazzling diversity of landscape, food & cultural treasures. Where better to prolong the summer?

This will be our first yoga adventure to Sicily. It is an island that we have had on our yoga retreat destination wish list for a very long time. We were contacted by the owners of a retreat centre near Taormina & it seems as though they are offering us the perfect fit.

Our Sicilian home for the yoga week, is located just 10 kilometers from Taormina where we can enjoy the retreat’s beachfront position, overlooking one of the most beautiful beaches on the Ionian Coast. The retreat is set in charming Mediterranean gardens, with terraces furnished with comfortabe sofas surrounded by jasmine & bougainvillea. Here we can enjoy the late summer sunshine, clear warm sea, individual cottage style accommodation, delicious healthy Sicilian food & maybe a little local wine!

In addition there are no shortage of places to explore on this fabulous Island. The region is well known for its dramatic scenery, well-preserved ancient ruins, delicious Sicilian food & wine & of course Mount Etna – Europe’s only active Volcano.

Our September 2018 retreat is designed to provide the perfect setting to prolong the summer, get to know some new people, nurture ourselves & prepare for the winter months ahead.

Rediscover Your Rasa ~ an 11 day Yoga Journey Across Jordan

With Emily Reed & Drew Lawrence
Amman, Feynan, Petra and the Dead Sea
2–13 Oct 2018

Join Emily Reed with her friend and mentor Drew Lawrence (Vedic Astrologer & Published author) as they invite you to press the reset button, opening yourself to a sacred landscape and vibrations of our ancestors. “Rasa” in Sanskrit can be translated as “pure essence”. We invite you to rediscover your RASA (the person that exists beyond the daily stress and tiredness) as you peel back the layers on this “Conscious Living” retreat through the Holy Lands and deserts of Jordan.

Deep in the heart of the mountainous Dana Biosphere Reserve, at the end of a rugged track, an idyllic candle-lit lodge rests in the magnificent Wadi Feynan. This is an enchanting world of authentic Bedouin hospitality and natural beauty. Hailed as one of the best 25 eco lodges in the world by National Geographic Traveller Magazine, the award-winning, solar powered Feynan Ecolodge offers the most developed eco-experience in Jordan.

It is here that Emily Reed is guiding a group of “explorers” on a journey to cultivate better relationships and greater health and wellbeing in their body, mind and everyday life.

She is joined by her friend and mentor Drew Lawrence (Vedic astrologer, teacher and Sanskrit editor) and Serene Miqdadi (operational facilitator) on the retreat.

Time to rediscover your “Rasa”

“Rasa” in Sanskrit can be translated as “pure essence”. It directly refers to the “true” nature- who you are beneath the everyday stresses, hang-ups and conditioned pressures from society.
When you set an intention to rediscover your RASA you set an intention to create a platform from which you can cultivate better overall health, wellbeing, relationships and a better day to day experience of life.

Emily has been guiding Conscious Living retreats since 2012. The ‘Conscious Living’ ethos is looking at how we can create healthier, happier, more sustainable and well rounded lives. In essence it’s the Yoga of Living (what we do and how we live off our mats).

6 nights at an authentic, world acclaimed eco lodge in the national park; daily meditation and movement practices, contemplations; options to do sunrise or sunset walks in to the desert for meditation; talks and stories on the ancient lands of antiquity, Vedic astrology; discover how to use ancient well being wisdom from Ayurveda for your modern day life style.

Nourishing and delicious Jordanian vegetarian meals served by the Bedouin community who run the beautiful eco lodge resort.

During the final four days explore the sacred sites of Petra (2 nights) and the Dead Sea (2 nights). Both powerful spaces for meditation and contemplation. The Dead Sea will also be the time to indulge in the deeply healing salt spa treatments!

In essence:

Immerse yourself with a group of like minded seekers, connecting with a community and cultivating an organic “sangha” through conversation, yoga practices, walking, sharing sunsets and sunrise, evening fires, visiting sacred sites and more.

Join us on this adventure:
• delve in to all that nature has to offer across expansive desert vistas, breathing in stunning sunrises and sunsets together on early morning and evening walks;
• planned guided visits and meditations to the foundations of some of the country’s finest ancient ruins (Petra & Dead Sea).
• meet and laugh with like minded others;
• be guided through daily yoga/movement; meditation and breathing practices;
• enjoy fire side stories under incredible starry skies… and much more.
• Indulge in the Dead Sea spas. The ancient healing salt waters of the Dead Sea are renowned for over one thousand years.
