What, when and where was your first experience of yoga?
At Bristol University when I was 19 at the Student Union!

What made you decide to move from student to teacher?
I started teaching my mother and her friends for fun and it just developed naturally from there.

What teaching tip has had the biggest influence on the way you practice? And the way you teach?
Unless you are focusing on your breathing you are just stretching. Teach from the heart and enjoy it!

What does your own self-practice involve?
Asanas, pranayama and meditation.

If you only had 10 minutes to practice, what would you do?
It would depend on what I felt I needed that day in that moment. I would probably just do some pranayama and meditation though.

Who/what is the biggest inspiration on your yoga journey at the moment?
Rod Stryker is my biggest influence in my personal practice at the moment, but there have been many others on my journey.

What role does yoga play in the way you live?
It influences my whole outlook and the choices I make in the way I lead my life. It makes me more aware of balance and trying to lead a more balanced life

What do you hope your students to experience when they practice with you?
I hope they experience feelings of calm, joy, balance, inspiration and self reflection.

Which yoga text could you not live without?
Too many to choose from!

Describe the meaning of yoga in 10 words or less.
Yoga is about living in the moment with awareness.

Tara Lee has been practicing yoga for 22 years and has been teaching yoga for almost 15 years. Tara teaches a dynamic flowing style based on her experiences and training from many different teachers and disciplines including Ashtanga, Sivananda and most recently Para yoga. She writes regularly blogs for the Huffington Post and has featured in numerous yoga books and publications including Tatler, The Times, Om Magazine, Yoga Magazine and W Magazine. Tara currently teaches Pregnancy Yoga, Mother and Baby Yoga and Dynamic yoga classes. She runs pregnancy teacher training courses, is a registered senior teacher on the board of Yoga Alliance UK and is also a qualified Shiatsu practitioner and a trained Doula.
