Edge Street is a turning off the northern end of Kensington Church Street close to its junction with Notting Hill Gate. The nearest tube stations are Notting Hill Gate (Central, District or Circle lines) which is 3 minutes’ walk, or High Street Kensington (District and Circle lines) which is 10 minutes’ walk.

From Notting Hill Gate – Central, District or Circle lines:
  • After the ticket barriers turn left and left again, taking the Kensington Church Street exit.
  • Walk ahead until you reach Kensington Church Street (Waterstones bookshop will be on your right).
  • Turn right into Kensington Church Street.
  • Take the second right into Edge Street.
  • The Life Centre is a white fronted building on the left hand side, halfway up Edge Street.
From High Street Kensington – District and Circle lines:
  • On exiting the tube station go straight ahead through the arcade of shops until you reach Kensington High Street.
  • Turn right and cross the road.
  • Take the first left onto Kensington Church Street and keep walking for approximately 7 minutes.
  • Edge Street will be on your left.
  • The Life Centre is a white fronted building on the left hand side, halfway up Edge Street.

Directions by Bus

The Life Centre is served by bus routes 27, 28, 52, 70, 148, 328 and 452, all of which go to Kensington Church Street. In addition, bus routes 31, 94, 148 and 390 all go to Notting Hill Gate.

Parking

There are Pay & Display bays on Edge Street. They operate Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 18:30 and Saturday from 08:30 to 13:30, costing £3 per hour. On Sunday and Bank Holidays there parking is free. Please note that Residents Only parking bays in Edge Street operate until late in the evening.

Maximum stay in Edge Street is 2 hours. There are some 4-hour spaces in the roads between Edge Street and Notting Hill Gate, and in the roads off Kensington Church Street on the opposite side to Edge Street.

Motorbike Parking

Available on Kensington Place (parallel to Edge Street).

Bicycle Parking

There is a bicycle rack on Edge Street right outside The Life Centre (please note that The Life Centre cannot accept responsibility for any loss of, or damage to, bicycles).

Britannia Row is situated just off Essex Road in the heart of Islington. The nearest transport links are Essex Road (Overground) which is 5 minutes’ walk, Angel (Northern Line) which is 10 minutes’ walk, and Highbury & Islington (Victoria Line) which is 10-15 minutes’ walk. King’s Cross is only 10 minutes by bus on routes 73 and 476. Old Street is 15 minutes by bus on route 271.

From Essex Road – Overground

  • Turn right out of the station onto Essex Road.
  • Follow Essex Road then turn left into Britannia Row.
  • The Life Centre Islington is the first brick-fronted building on the left side of Britannia Row.

From Angel – Northern Line

  • After the ticket barriers exit straight ahead onto Upper Street (passing RBS and Camden Passage).
  • Continue along Upper Street before turning right onto Islington Green.
  • Continue forward until Islington Green becomes Essex Road.
  • Turn right (after Planet Organic) into Britannia Row. The Life Centre Islington is the first brick-fronted building on the left side of Britannia Row.

From Highbury & Islington – Victoria Line and Overground

  • Turn right out of the station then right again onto Upper Street.
  • Turn left into Cross Street.
  • Turn right onto Essex Road.
  • Turn left into Britannia Row. The Life Centre Islington is the first brick-fronted building on the left side of Britannia Row.

Directions by Bus

The Life Centre Islington is a few yards down Britannia Row from its junction with Essex Road. Essex Road is on many major bus routes, including routes 38, 56, 73, 271, 341 and 476.

Parking

Please note that during weekdays and on Saturday, parking in Islington is restricted. In the evenings and on Sunday, parking is available on adjacent streets to the Centre on single yellow lines.

There is limited Pay and Display parking on Essex Road, in Britannia Row and on some other surrounding streets, with prices ranging from £2.40 to £4.80 per hour, depending on location. Pay and Display does not operate after 1.30pm on Saturday or at all on Sunday.

There are private car parks eight minutes’ walk away, next to the Business Design Center on Upper Street. The N1 Centre’s car park is situated in Parkfield Street, just off Upper Street (and is accessed via Berners Road) where disabled parking is available. Private parking costs from £1.50 off-peak at N1 to £3 standard, but do check current prices before you park.

Bicycle Parking

There are bicycle racks provided on Essex Road, just past Planet Organic (please note that The Life Centre cannot accept responsibility for any loss of, or damage to, bicycles).

Please note: We are not open or run a reduced schedule on the following days in the year: New Year's Day, Good Friday to Easter Monday (inclusive), May Bank Holiday Mondays, August Bank Holiday (Saturday to Monday inclusive at Notting Hill due to the Notting Hill carnival), Christmas Day, Boxing Day and any associated bank holidays. Please see class timetable for up-to-date details of closures.
