    Developmental Baby massage works with the muscles and joints to achieve all the benefits of orthodox massage while helping the baby to fulfil her structural and physiological potential at each stage of development from birth to standing.

    Baby Massage classes with Alice at are small with personal attention to each baby (maximum 15 babies in a class). Alice uses a doll to demonstrate baby massage techniques, which parents and carers then practise on their babies. The class starts with a warm up followed by a full body massage. Lying on their backs the babies have their feet massaged first, then the massage moves up to the legs, belly chest and arms. Babies have plenty of time on their bellies as well as a chance to sit, squat and stand supported. At the end of each session mums, dads or carers have the opportunity to have an informal discussion with tea and biscuits, while the babies either sleep, feed or just chill out. Soft baby gymnastics can also be demonstrated for babies that are on the move.

    Restorative poses are practised in a passive state with various props so the body can feel supported, rested and nurtured. Specific poses offered at each class will focus on a different theme, however, all the systems of the body benefit from this deep relaxation.     Yin Yoga is a practice where postures are held for 3 minutes or more. This length of time is used to open into the thicker layers of connective tissues around the joints that a moving, dynamic practice may not as effectively access.

    This 6 week course introduces the classic body of yoga postures (asanas) and basic sequences, including sun salutations. Teens are learning to think for themselves, and yoga can help bring a clarity and focus to their thinking. The teenage years are all about change and adjusting to the latest thing. Sometimes friends, boy friends/girl friends, interests and activities remain constant sources of support and fun, and sometimes loosing them creates great big holes. Yoga is good for stretching and strengthening the body, yoga practice is a way to unwind from sitting in class all day. Moving mindfully with one's breath, yoga is a way to feel good in the body and get all the bits working together. Breathing practices, guided relaxation and meditation can also help deal with stress, tiredness, restless energy, and bad moods. On the positive side, yoga can also help improve attention and concentration, ability to relax, can build confidence, and improve mood. We’re starting a new yoga class for teens in secondary school (ages 12-18) only. Wednesdays 16:45 – 17:45 at Islington. Classes will run during terms and take off term breaks.     Baby Massage classes with Alice at are small with personal attention to each baby (maximum 15 babies in a class). Alice uses a doll to demonstrate baby massage techniques, which parents and carers then practise on their babies. The class starts with a warm up followed by a full body massage. Lying on their backs the babies have their feet massaged first, then the massage moves up to the legs, belly chest and arms. Babies have plenty of time on their bellies as well as a chance to sit, squat and stand supported. At the end of each session mums, dads or carers have the opportunity to have an informal discussion with tea and biscuits, while the babies either sleep, feed or just chill out. Soft baby gymnastics can also be demonstrated for babies that are on the move.

    Yoga Nidra translates as Yogic Sleep. It is state of physical and mental relaxation, between wakefulness and deep sleep and the objective is to cultivate that state, without falling asleep. It is used as a relaxation practice, also a form of meditation, treatment for stress and anxiety and purification of the negative habits of mind. It is generally practised lying in savasana, but can be done sitting, or semi-reclining. This can help one remain conscious and aware if there is a tendency to fall asleep.

    This form of yoga nidra was devised by Swami Satyananda from an ancient tantric practice and includes eight verbally guided stages.     Exploring Nada Yoga: A Yin and Yang Workshop (£35)Book Now

    The premise for nada yoga is that the entire universe and everything that exists within it, including human beings, consists of sound vibrations. The vibrations were there first before anything else came into existence and this expression of sound builds the basis for the creation and existence of all matter. We will start the workshop with some listening and chanting - receiving and creating sound - tracing external sounds, as they travel through space arriving at the ear.     Baby Massage classes with Alice at are small with personal attention to each baby (maximum 15 babies in a class). Alice uses a doll to demonstrate baby massage techniques, which parents and carers then practise on their babies. The class starts with a warm up followed by a full body massage. Lying on their backs the babies have their feet massaged first, then the massage moves up to the legs, belly chest and arms. Babies have plenty of time on their bellies as well as a chance to sit, squat and stand supported. At the end of each session mums, dads or carers have the opportunity to have an informal discussion with tea and biscuits, while the babies either sleep, feed or just chill out. Soft baby gymnastics can also be demonstrated for babies that are on the move.

    This 6 week course introduces the classic body of yoga postures (asanas) and basic sequences, including sun salutations. A focus on healthy alignment principles and an introduction to breathing practices (pranayama) will help build strength, flexibility and create a foundation for your yoga practice.

    In this course, students will receive personal attention from an experienced teacher week to week providing an ideal environment for learning. Building upon the core poses and working at a pace that ensures learning, students will build strength and knowledge, as well as cultivate greater mental clarity and calm.

    The Beginner Course is way to begin your practice and discover yoga in a safe and fun space. Perfect for beginners, people who like to learn sequentially or anyone looking to revisit the fundamentals of yoga. On completion of the course you will have the experience, confidence and knowledge to attend any of The Life Centre’s Yoga Level 1 or Level 1-2 classes.
